Spend enough time roaming the streets of Rome and you're likely to encounter a fair share of people who fancy themselves more Catholic than the Pope. No wonder, then, that the Italians have now tried to out-Rolls-Royce Rolls-Royce, presenting a one-off drop-top Drophead that endeavors to embody an even greater presence than the Phantom cabrio itself.
The Pininfarina Hyperion was unveiled just this past weekend at Pebble Beach, and our man Drew was on hand to bring you the best shots of the one-off coachbuilt special from the show stand as it was unveiled and from the fairway where it was displayed in all its glory. But just in case you didn't get enough, Pininfarina has released ten more high-res shots of its one-off Roller for your viewing pleasure. Click on the top gallery to view the new factory shots, and on the two galleries after the jump to see the Hyperion in Monterey.

Looks the a refined modern evolution of Jay Leno's Tank Car.

...or a refined modern evolution of the SNL Ambiguously Gay Duo car.

i really don't like this car, i would just rather prefer the phantom drop head, especially after that top gear episode, imo
dwightB @ Aug 19th 2008 2:08PM
+1 The proportions of this car just look bad...
Clarence Young @ Aug 19th 2008 1:08PM
Are you sure Jay Leno did not design this?
Epyx @ Aug 19th 2008 1:09PM
The pictures are not so hot. What's the deal with angled shots just to angle the shot? Why no interior pics? It had the top down after all.
meshies @ Aug 19th 2008 2:37PM
Its the same ol interior. The Hyperion comes off as a big waste of time/money. Pininfarina do you need help?

A moderately attractive automobile has been turned into a comic book illustration brought to life.

Very nice except the front end..simply does not flow with rest of the car. sofa king blunt

Rear 2/3rds of a Lexus 430SC with a front grill of an RR attached.
MachWon @ Aug 19th 2008 1:39PM
Thank god it's only a one-off!
mr.ed @ Aug 20th 2008 9:23AM
I wouldn't drive it if it were half-off. One-off of this is one too many. Even uglier than the original.
JagGill @ Aug 19th 2008 1:42PM
I like the side profile, but the front doesn't do it for me. I really think RR should use this design in the future.
SPG @ Aug 19th 2008 2:02PM
I could see a Geely logo on this car... But not the Rolls Royce Logo.
Saney @ Aug 19th 2008 2:25PM
Am I the only who thinks Chris Bangle is being ripped off again? The sides look like the came off a Z4. Ian, it does have the butt of a 430.
Torrent @ Aug 19th 2008 3:08PM
Better than the RR. Very long hood. I wonder how visibility is.

I'm surprised so many people don't like this. All the "looks like" comments too are driving me crazy. This car looks exactly like a Rolls Royce designed by Pininfarina should look. It has classic Rolls styling cues with an elegant grace from Pininfarina. Everything that others are saying look like another car, to me look like very early and classic Pininfarina design language that was around well before the cars others are referring to. Yes the front end is a little too long and big, but it is supposed to be like that, it is a Rolls Royce. This is infinitely better than than the current Phantom. The current Phantom looks like an H2 compared to this.
tufcustomer @ Aug 19th 2008 6:05PM
I really hate that side profile
ron @ Aug 19th 2008 6:05PM
This IS a joke, isn't it??? PLEASE tell me it's a joke!!!
Foris @ Aug 19th 2008 8:16PM
What a strange mashup of the elegantly beautiful (the 3-quarter back view) and the hideous (3-quarter front view). Trying to graft that monolithic square front onto a sleek, curvy body was always going to look like a car crash, and the pimple-on-a-pumpkin convertible hood is an embarrassment. Resubmit.
