If you've been dying to see animated versions of Click and Clack -- aliases Tom and Ray Magliozzi -- then you'll want to tune into your local PBS station tonight. Their new series, As the Wrench Turns, starts off with their presidential campaign, with one of the platforms being "America needs a lube job!" We're all for it. Big Bird and the Cookie Monster will also make a cameo, though we're not sure if it's tonight. Check your PBS site for local times, or check out the show's site for a preview of the mechanical mayhem.

I've started listening to the Car Talk podcast recently. These guys are pretty funny and seem to have a good time. I'll try to catch this tonight, or hopefully torrent it later.

Perfect "birthday present" for a gearhead! My wife was not sure if it was a joke or not - but it is a "real show".
The radio show is a nice blend of dorky humor with some real intelligence, and sometimes they actually diagnose a car problem correctly too!

I guess I'll have to reserve judgement until I see it, but this "show" looks pretty goofy to me. Not that they aren’t knowledgeable, they definitely are, but I find it hard to listen to these guys for more than a few minutes at a time. The tend to go off on tangents and get too silly before they finally get around to answering the caller’s question. I realize that the “entertainment value” is part their radio program’s mass appeal, but I’d rather hear them take more calls and diagnose more car problems. That’s my one beef with the radio show, they don’t talk enough about cars.

They have a pretty good radio show, when it's not inundated by soccer moms calling to ask what European sport sedan they should buy little Timmy for his 16th birthday or newlyweds calling to complain about their partners clutch habits.
But they should leave it that. It seems like everyone has to get bigger and bigger these days, until they get over-exposed and we get sick of them. Why do they need to do this show?
