If you're on Ferrari's mailing list for the new California, you might have seen a new email in your inbox today with a link to another chapter (literally) opening up on the vehicle's dedicated website. Today's installment leads to a video of the California's trick folding hard-top – another first for Ferrari (if you don't count the innovative one-piece mechanism designed by Fioravanti for the limited-production 575-based Superamerica). Thanks to a mechanism that moves multiple segments in unison, the hard-top can be deployed or retracted in only 15 seconds – faster than the soft-top on any convertible ever to roar out of the gates at Maranello.
Follow the jump to watch the video.

Wishful thinking...
Collin @ Jun 25th 2008 7:16PM

Really! Ugliest EVER? wow, have you ever seen the Mondial, or a Testarossa, how about 308 GTS. All pale in comparison to this car... I know it's subjective, but come on man, that's a bit of a stretch.

No such thing as an ugly Ferrari.
Random Task @ Jun 25th 2008 8:20PM
Wow, if you had told me it was a Hyundai I'd believe it. So ugly, it hurts.
Raptor @ Jun 26th 2008 1:09AM
Yes, there is no such thing as an ugly Ferrari - just ugly Americans.
stu @ Jun 26th 2008 2:50AM
Those who call a Ferrari ugly are those who will NEVER own a Ferrari. Have fun with your Civics, Sentras and Tiburons.
The fact is this: Ferrari will sell EVERY ONE that they make and owners will actually enjoy DRIVING their Ferrari even more than those who bitch and moan about the way they look.
I'm sure your wife and girlfriend aren't all that, but I'm not complaining about them on a forum without even getting to know them. :-/
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jun 26th 2008 3:36AM
The 308 GTS is beautiful, so is the Testarossa. Neither is the 348, but what can you do?
This is ugly. It's not the ugliest Ferrari by far, it's probably not even the ugliest current Ferrari.
Cross @ Jun 27th 2008 12:19PM
Everyones opinion on how nice or how ugly this car looks does not matter, because the fact is that, manufacturers like Ferarri, Lambo, Bently etc, can build a car out of a cardboard box, add wheels to it and slap their logo on it and people will still buy it just because of the name.
C.W. @ Jun 25th 2008 7:22PM
Up and down faster than most can just go up. Sweet
Benfolio @ Jun 26th 2008 2:08PM
Pfft. Miata PRHT goes up or down in 12 seconds.
Seoultrain @ Jun 25th 2008 7:27PM
Is there a real video? computer simulation doesn't cut it. Everything's too smooth to be realistic.
I do like the way they engineered it.
Peter Rockwell @ Jun 25th 2008 7:27PM
How much weight would a manual cloth top save? Or would that upset the f/r distribution?
CORVETTE ZR1 @ Jun 25th 2008 7:34PM
Ugliest Car ive ever. next to the Ugly TVR Sagaris. lol..
zreeb @ Jun 25th 2008 8:42PM
Enzo is the ugliest Ferrari ever.
Gibran Aslam @ Jun 25th 2008 9:10PM
Whilst the enzo may seem ugly in pictures, its completely different when seen in person. I was gobsmacked by how nice it was when I was one last year at the ferrari 60th anniversary days at silverstone. It really is a stunning car
Hike15 @ Jun 25th 2008 11:48PM
what about the Ferrari 612?
its big and i think very ugly
or the old Ferrari 2+2's
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jun 26th 2008 3:38AM
Enzo: hideous
612: nasty, although it has a proper Ferrari grille. But that doesn't even come close to saving it.
