It's been photographed for months and referred to alternately as Dino and F149, but for now at least, the newest stallion from Maranello goes by the generic moniker, Ferrari GT. Today, the automaker launched www.ferrarigtcountdown.com where the car will be gradually revealed during the runup to the Paris Motor Show this September. Ferrari promises to feed us technical details, sound files and photos of the car between now and Paris. Right now you can see a few teaser images and hear the engine sing its sweet, sweet song as it starts up, runs up and down through the gears, and screams by at full tilt. The countdown timer on the site currently shows 10 days and 22 hours until something else is revealed. Looks like we can put those Dino-branded rumors to rest for good; whatever this car is officially named, it is most definitely a Ferrari. See you in ten days, when the next puzzle piece hits the web.

New Ferrari GT to be Revealed on Web
Maranello, May 9th 2008 – A new Ferrari Grand Tourer is in the offing and, in an innovative move, will be revealed to the fans and enthusiasts in a non-traditional way. In the build-up to the new model's official unveiling at the Paris Auto Show next October, we'll be revealing it bit by bit on the dedicated www.ferrarigtcountdown.com site which can also be accessed through the official Ferrari portal at www.ferrariworld.com
Visitors to the site will be guided through a sensory voyage of discovery which, over the coming weeks, will gradually reveal the new car in its entirety and feature some highly gratifying virtual road tests too.
The new site launches today and begins that voyage of discovery with the sense of sound. The roar of the new GT's engine will be the first bit of it to be revealed to enthusiasts, in fact, and will be followed over the next few days by the first photographs of this eagerly-awaited car whose name will also be revealed.
This is the first time that the Prancing Horse has used this virtual voyage of discovery approach which will allow it illustrate various aspects of the new GT model's design and the many, many technological innovations that it sports.
Updates and additions to the site will continue until the Paris Show. To ensure that you are kept constantly abreast of the new content being revealed, simply register with the site and then experience these sneak previews of this latest gorgeous Ferrari creation.
This new approach to unveiling the car will naturally also be flanked by more traditional encounters involving the release of photographs and, of course, the Paris Show. It is, in fact, just one part of a highly focused strategy that puts the web at centre stage as an instant, privileged communications channel through which Ferrari can keep in
constant contact with its burgeoning numbers of fans and enthusiasts worldwide.

is there any way to get those sound files as a download so I can use them on my cell phone.
morel @ May 9th 2008 5:18PM
just record them using a program like audacity and save the file as an mp3.

I found the file in the Firefox cache and it claimed it was a flash video file. However, it plays on my music player (Rhythmbox). I'll try to send it to my phone via bluetooth to see if it works.

Oh joy, Ferrari's new Alfa/Maserati badge job... I can't wait, I'm sure every backwater cable "star" will be ordering one. God I hate the whole world.

Xeyad @ May 9th 2008 4:43PM
this ferrari sounds more like a V8....right?
MikeofLA @ May 9th 2008 5:18PM
It is a V8... what else would you want it to sound like?

Okay, I'm curios to know if there's a reason they used the picture they did under sound clip 4. Looks to be the intersection of AZ 71 and US73 just on the Northeast side of Phoenix. Anyone know of what's around there and why they'd use that picture? Maybe I'm looking to much into it, or maybe I'm trying to find some fun roads to drive and interesting side trips to take on during future road trips. Yeah, that's it.
Oh, and I just checked, it's not just in the English layout of the page.

Holy crap, that sounds so fuking amazing. that sound is perfect.
By the way, Bruxell, do you read these blogs or just pull things out of your hat? Would you call the R8 a Lambo/Audi badge engineering job? Do you know how Ferrari and Masarati are structured? Do you really think Ferrari would let a Alfa underpin a Ferrari? Sure they will share common components, but they will be VASTLY different.
